Sixteen year old Steve Cook was a ham radio operator during the first AMIGOS summer (1965). Throughout the summer Steve also sent periodic reports from Honduras back to the Houston Post. Steve now serves as President for the Foundation for Amigos de las Américas. |
“In 1999, I married one of my fellow field supervisors from my summer in Costa Rica, and all of my closest friends with whom I’ve kept in touch over the years are friends I made through AMIGOS. The common base of values and experience creates a powerful glue that keeps us connected despite diverging paths in life.” –Joe Crownover, Learning Advisor, Shell Oil Official Airlines |
