Project Area:Intibucá is located in a mountainous region near the border with El Salvador and about 3.5 hours west of the capital, Tegucigalpa. Intibucá is a beautiful, temperate region. It is green and mountainous with gorgeous views and many small rivers that cut through the valleys. La Esperanza, the staff headquarter city, and nearby communities lie in a transition zone between pine forest and tropical areas, providing a mixture of deciduous trees, evergreen pines and tropical palm-like trees. “Ever since I returned from Panama I have been trying to get other teens to participate in AMIGOS because I want them to experience the life-changing experience I did and go on the journey of a lifetime with a group of other committed, caring teens from across the United States and Latin America.” –Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons, Veteran Volunteer
