Rishi Schweig

Director

Rishi became involved with AMIGOS in 1995 when his daughter Rose, then 16, became a volunteer with the Marin County chapter. He was invited to join the Marin Board of Directors, where he currently serves as President. Rishi joined the International Board of Directors in 2004 and has been active on committees serving chapter assistance, programs and development.

Because he believes that AMIGOS is, "The best youth leadership program in this country," Rishi has taken advantage of numerous opportunities to visit AMIGOS project areas, inevitably returning inspired seeing the work done by our volunteers and the warm reception given by the communities they live in.

Rishi lives in Point Reyes, California adjacent to the national park. He is active in the community there, serving on the boards of the library foundation and the local community center. Rishi raised 5 children in Point Reyes. They are all now grown and raising six grandchildren for his delight and devoted attention.

Now retired, Rishi ran a respected nationwide distributor in the natural food trade and pioneered many well-known brands in the area of personal care and herbal remedies. Rishi takes full advantage of his rural surroundings with sailing, kayaking, bicycling, and hiking. When winter arrives he visits the snow in the Sierras whenever possible.
