Susan Green Cooksey, PhD, WHCNP, RN, FSAM, is a researcher and nurse practitioner in Portland, Oregon. She entered the marvelous world of AMIGOS as her young son, Mark Warren attended an information session at his high school. Her world was forever changed as Mark Warren, better known as "Marcos" was a volunteer for 2 years, field supervisor for two years, and most recently Project Director. Susan held many roles in the Portland Chapter of AMIGOS including 2 years as Co-President with her husband, Mark Cooksey. Susan was honored to be asked to serve on the International Board of Directors and is currently in her second term. She currently serves on the Administration, Program, and Medical/Safety Committees.
Susan earned her BS degree in Nursing from Columbia University, MS in Special Education and Certificate in Women's Studies from Portland State University, and an MS and PhD in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences Univerity. In addition, Susan is a Pediatric and Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner. She is a Fellow in the Society for Adolescent Medicine and a Certified Menopause Clinician. She recently retired from Kaiser Permanente NW where she was a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner and Menopause Educator. In addition, she was the Lead Practitioner at Center for Health Research for the Portland Site for the Women's Health Initiative for 10 years.
Susan has been married to Mark Cooksey for 35 years. They have 2 children: Jean and Marcos and 2 grandkids: Alyah and Hady. She is a Captain, US Naval Reserve, Retired having served 25 years in the military.
