Welcome to the AMIGOS family! As you prepare for your summer experience, our team is here to support you and make sure all of your questions are answered.  We want you to depart for your project confident and prepared so that you can have a safe and fulfilling summer experience. Below you will find answers to current participants' most frequently asked questions. 

What immunizations do I need?
This will depend on where you are traveling. You can download the required immunizations form here.

What do I pack?
Be sure to read the materials we sent you carefully for tips on how to pack for the specific climate of your assignment. Materials about each project are emailed to all participants in April. Also, be sure to check out the packing page.

Can I choose exactly where I want to go?
Project assignments are made based on the information you provide on your Volunteer Preference Form. We will carefully match you with the project that best fits your date restrictions and individual needs (For example making sure that someone with refrigerated medication was assigned to a community with reliable electricity or avoiding placing a vegetarian in a community that uses beef as a primary component in their diet). We will take your preference into account heavily, but ultimately we will choose the project that we feel fits you best to set you up for a fulfilling, sucessful summer.

Can my friend and I request to be partners?
The short answer is no. Developing new friendships and bonding with your new community are absolutely key to your success this summer. Your partners will be strategically chosen by your Project Staff at your in-country briefing.
