AMIGOS Fundraising & Scholarships
Fundraising is required for Chapter Volunteers and is highly recommended for Correspondent Volunteers (CVs). This page provides information on how to begin that process.
The full Participation Fee can be raised with some hard work and dedication. Each year, many Volunteers are able to raise enough to pay their way in full. Fundraising is also an educational experience that creates ownership and builds other vaulable skills.
- Chapter Volunteers participate in group fundraising activities within their local chapter.
- CVs are responsible for raising their own Participation Fee.
To begin your fundraising, use the AMIGOS Fundraising Guide (pdf) for direction, advice, and sample templates. Here are a few examples of strategies that have worked for past Volunteers:
- Online Donations
- Letter-writing Campaign
- Raffles
- Benefit Concerts
- Sponsored Walks or Bike Rides
- Bake Sales or Fruit Sales
- Car Washes
All donations made to AMIGOS are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, making your fundraising efforts easier because you offer donors this benefit.
Grants and Scholarships
AMIGOS provides financial assistance to Volunteers based on financial need. The Financial Aid section of the Volunteer Application must be submitted along with the application to be considered for need-based aid.
AMIGOS Volunteers who return for a second summer are awarded a $350 financial incentive from the International Office. In addition, some chapters may offer additional discounts to alumni.
Grants and sponsorships are also available from universities, churches, corporations, and local organizations (i.e. The Lions Club, The Rotary Club, etc.). A list of previous scholarships is available here.
