Torrential rains have caused flooding and landslides across Central America, affecting more than 1,000,000 people. Our partner agency Plan USA  is providing relief for families in the hard-hit countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, where the storms have destroyed infrastructure and forced more than 100,000 from their homes. 

Plan is supporting families staying in shelters with food, hygiene kits, medicines, and recreational activities for children. Your support can help us provide even more aid to families in need.

Our Partnership with Plan

AMIGOS partners with Plan in 5 Latin American countries, including flood-affected Honduras. Through our Summer Program, we directly support Plan’s effort to raise awareness about the rights of children and promote youth action in communities. AMIGOS Project Staff and Volunteers work with local youth and community members to carry out the following activities:

I.  Environmental projects, such as community and family gardens and tree planting to support reforestation.

II.  Educational activities and youth fairs focused on the environment.
III.  Community-Based Initiatives (CBIs): Volunteers collaborate with their host community in the implementation of a small-scale community-specific project (e.g. creation of a sports equipment rental bank, repainting a school, or organizing a cultural festival).
