Azuero, Panama 2011: Project Update #2

The Azuero project has just finished our three day midterm.  Midterm started on Saturday with two different youth meetings where Volunteers from each region came together with youth counterparts from their communities to do teambuilding activities, reflect on their experience thus far, and plan new activities for the rest of their time.   Some of the activities were quite hilarious and Volunteers bonded further with youth from their communities, while laughing, chatting, and having lunch.

Saturday night Volunteers ate dinner with their routes and then returned to the midterm site for a cultural show and sharing.  We had a guitarist and a dancer entertain us with typical dances from the region.  After this, Volunteers each shared their favorite part of their community with each other.

On Sunday, we spent the first half of the day doing a Round Robin activity where Volunteers talked together about various challenges and successes they have had.  In the afternoon, we relaxed at a nearby beach.  In the evening, we had Round 2 of Route Olympics and then each route had a little time to prepare route skits…about their supervisors!  This was quite a good laugh for all.

We are excited for the plans Volunteers have made for their remaining time in community.  They are certainly a fun, dynamic group of Volunteers!
