Are you interested in serving as a Volunteer with the Boston Chapter? If so, we will welcome your application! We start accepting applications in September and stop accepting applications in late October or early November. Before you apply, we do highly encourage you, and a parent if still in high school, to attend one of our information sessions.

To be eligible to be a Volunteer with AMIGOS through our Chapter, you must:

• Apply by our Chapter deadline

• Be 16 years old or older by September 1^st after the summer you want to be a Volunteer. For example, if you want to be a Volunteer during the summer of 2013, you need to apply in fall 2012 and be at least 16 years old by September 1^st, 2013.

• Be enrolled in high school Spanish 2 or higher OR have an equivalent level of Spanish ability. There will be language assessments to ensure all Volunteers meet this requirement. If you do not meet the required level when you apply, the Chapter will work with you to improve your Spanish over the course of the program year. However, this might require considerable work on the part of the prospective volunteer.

• Commit and fulfill training and fundraising requirements.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

General Scholarship (Need-Based Aid)

Need-based financial aid is available to volunteers to help with up to 75% of the volunteer’s Family Payment. Financial Aid applications are included in the application materials and due on December 15^th.

Veteran Volunteer Scholarships

Volunteers who have already spent one summer as an Amigos volunteer are automatically granted a $1000 scholarship towards the Family Payment. Full participation in Chapter training and fundraising is expected.
