Boston Chapter Fundraising

AMIGOS Volunteers participate in fundraising to cover a portion of the cost of this program. The funds that are raised go to cover the cost of scholarships, the training program, domestic and international airfare, safety, in-country transportation, project materials, and program project staff in country. The Boston Chapter holds various fundraisers during the year to help Volunteers raise money.
The Boston Chapter has two primary fundraisers, a citrus sale and a letter writing campaign. Volunteers and their families are required to fully participate in our fundraising initiatives.
Boston Chapter Citrus Sale
As anyone who has supported our Chapter by purchasing grapefruit and oranges knows, the fruit is delicious! It is picked within days of being shipped and then sent on a dedicated truck to the Boston Chapter from Texas for immediate distribution to our supporters. Orders are taken for 20 pound boxes of this succulent fruit and will be delivered to your door within the Boston Metro Area (subject to some limitations).
If you are interested in purchasing fruit, please contact a Volunteer you know or the Chapter directly by Thanksgiving at bostonchapteramigos@gmail.com so we can discuss pricing and delivery. We might be able to accept orders through the first week of December, depending on availability. All orders subject to geographic limitations.
Boston Chapter Letter Writing Campaign
Every spring, we require each Chapter Volunteer to author and mail at least 100 letters to their friends, family, friends’ parents, parents’ coworkers, and to others with whom they have a personal relationship. In these letters, the Volunteers solicit donations to the Chapter to help cover the costs of the work of AMIGOS and of the Chapter. As you might imagine, this task is not always possible for each Volunteer. To that end, if you would like to receive a letter from a volunteer who cannot make their goal of 100 people, please email us at bostonchapteramigos@gmail.com so we can provide a Volunteer with your information. Donations are tax deductible because Amigos is a 501.c.3 nonprofit organization and you are not receiving goods or services in exchange for your generosity.
Other Fundraising
The chapter also raises money from the greater Boston area from corporate donors and individual contributions. We are also always looking for additional ways to fundraise. Please contact us with your ideas!
The Boston Chapter would like to thank our generous supporters who make our work possible!
