Boston Chapter Training Program
AMIGOS has almost 50 years of experience training Volunteers to serve in communities throughout Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Our training program offers hands-on experience to learn skills necessary to succeed in our projects. In the Boston Chapter training program and in-country briefing, Volunteers learn and practice the human relations, cross-cultural, language, leadership, health and safety and technical skills they will need for their project.

The Boston Chapter training program begins in early November and ends in early June. We meet for 8-9 Sunday afternoons over these months, and also have three overnight retreats, typically in November, February, and April. Our training sessions take place in the Greater Boston Area, and are accessible by T and/or MBTA Bus. Our overnight retreats normally take place farther afield, but we will work Volunteers on carpooling to ensure a lack of transportation is not an issue.

We do our best to plan around important events, i.e. holidays, public school vacations, SAT/PSAT testing dates, and other pre-planned events, but do understand that, occasionally, Volunteers may have to miss a meeting. We do have an attendance policy, which you can read and download here.
