The College Experience in AMIGOS
Amigos de las Américas provides the perfect opportunity for university students to complement the academic world with a full-immersion experience working in a community in Latin America. To create these opportunities, we partner with international non-profits, local agencies and government ministries who share in the vision of engaging international and local students in their work.
College Volunteers are partnered in groups of two or three and provided additional opportunities to learn about local issues. Volunteers participate in meetings with representatives from local organizations, allowing for the opportunity to gain a more in-depth, hands-on understanding of culture, history, development efforts in the region. Volunteers also receive readings about development and project themes, which are discussed in weekly meetings. Students interested in pursuing independent research projects are encouraged to submit a proposal to AMIGOS.
College-age Volunteers are welcome to participate in any of our programs, but there are a few options that are designed specifically for college students.
Within our summer program, there are 2 tracks.
