Coclé Bevil Project
Project: Requesting Support for Improvements to Classrooms of Chiguirí Abajo
Location: Coclé, Panama
Amount Needed: $1376.22 USD
Summary:
Currently there are five rooms in the school of Chiguirí Abajo that are unavailable for classes or meetings due to the condition of the floor and how hot they get. This project is designed to expand safe and productive learning environments for the youth of the community by placing non-slip tiles on the currently aging and uneven floors and by installing a false ceiling to control the temperature of the rooms. With the amount of money available through the Bevil Grant we will be able to make three of the rooms functional which will benefit the teachers, students, and members of the community of Chiguirí Abajo.
We hope to provide more safe space and flexibility to the school so the youth there will have a better learning experience and greater access to community events. We hope to do this by involving the youth of the community in organizing fundraisers and work days so that non-slip flooring and false ceilings can be installed in three classrooms. The new flooring will make the rooms safer and require little maintenance while the false ceiling will help insulate the roof so the rooms stay cooler.
