Project: Requesting Support for Aditional Recreational and Educatioal Excursions

Location: Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica

Amount Needed: $1400 USD

Summary:

The project for which we are soliciting funds is a series of excursions to environmentally important locales to provide Amigos volunteers and their Costa Rican counterparts with a well-rounded education of their work area.  These excursions will also work to generate cross-cultural understanding between our North American and Latin American volunteers.  Volunteers, with the help of the Bevil Grant, will have the opportunity to visit El Paramo del Cerro de la Muerte near Reserva Forestal Rio Macho, La Playa de Punta Leona near Parque Nacional Carara and partake in a night of recreation in the community of El Pilon in Parque Nacional Tenorio.

The Project Director believes that these types of excursions are essential to the success of volunteers in the communities of Pérez Zeledón.  They provide a vital space for Amigos volunteers and local volunteers to share common ground while simultaneously imparting knowledge that will help these volunteers plan for the implementation of extra-curricular activities in the communities of Pérez Zeledón. All twenty-two host communities will send local volunteers from the canton of Pérez Zeledón.
