"Cables de las Luces para una Pista de Deportes en la Escuela" (Wiring Lights for School Sports Field)

Amount Needed: $516.85 USD

This project will provide lights for a sports field outside our community's school.  The cables are very expensive which is why we are soliciting this grant. The purpose of  the lighting project is to provide youth with a meeting place, free of drugs and other vices, that may be used after dark.

Right now the community of Santa Lucia is undergoing a total renovation of the school. We already have other funding for new modern bathrooms and three new classrooms. We've also already started building a sports field in the school where the children and young people can do sports in a healthy place. This project is primarily a youth project in the community. They are building the field themselves and it was actually their idea to add the field in the first place. For this field, we want lights to make it a safe place after dark. It will have the added benefit of generating resources by giving us the ability to attract people from surrounding areas for night-time sporting events.  This project is necessary for the community because right now there is no space where the youth can gather safely after dark.
