Gap Year Immersion

Our 2012-2013 Gap Year Program is in vibrant, beautiful Nicaragua. Participants will live in several cities across the country, based on which internship you are matched with. You will be welcomed into a host family and become such a part of your host community that before you know it Nicaragua will feel just like your second home!

FOOD

A traditional diet in Nicaragua is rice, black beans, chicken, cuajada (salty cheese), and tortillas. Nicaragua is an easy place to be a vegetarian.

CLIMATE

Nicaragua has a pleasant, tropical climate staying within the 70s and 80s (°F) most of the year throughout most of the country. During the rainy season in the summer and early fall, some parts of the country will see showers almost daily. The driest season lasts from December through April.

HOST FAMILIES

Living with a host family is one of the elements that makes the AMIGOS Gap Year Program so special.
