Gap Year Program!
The AMIGOS Gap Year Program is designed for students who wish to gain an extended international volunteer experience and immersion experience before or during college. Combining field volunteer work, exposure to our partner agencies working in international development, family home-stays and excursions around the country, our program offers hands-on experiential learning that prepares young people for college and beyond.
Dates:
Gap Year: September 10, 2013 to April 15, 2013
Gap Semester Session I: September 10 to December 15, 2013
Gap Semester Session II: January 10 to April 15, 2014
* All dates include a training session
What Volunteers Do:
- Live with a host family in a community or city with one other partner
- Volunteer with a local or international community development organization
- Collaborate with youth and community members to organize service projects and facilitate extra-curricular activities
- Participate in monthly trainings and excursions all around Nicaragua along with other Volunteers each month
- Create multimedia projects to track and share progress (videos, blogs, etc.)
- Independent research proposals will be considered
