Manager, Marketing and Communications
POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this position handles a wide spectrum of marketing and communication activities, including print, electronic and broadcast media.
Headquarters: AMIGOS International Office in Houston, TX
Salary: $36,000 - $43,000/year. Excellent Benefits.
Deadline: The ideal candidate would begin working in mid-January, 2013
Occasional Nights and Weekends will be required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, or related field
· 2 - 4 years relevant experience
· Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
· Understands basic components and language of graphic design, website design, and printing in order to ensure effective production decisions, timelines and communications with contractors and staff
· Ability to comprehend and handle technical tasks associated with website management. Drupal experience a plus
· High level of self-direction and initiative. Ability to initiate and complete relevant tasks with minimal supervision or administrative support
· High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· Advanced understanding and experience with social media platforms, especially Facebook and Twitter
· Patient, upbeat, creative, and outgoing personality
· Must be a quick and willing learner
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and IMovie experience.
· Basic proficiency in Spanish
· Basic HTML proficiency is a plus
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Relations and Advertising
· Generates strategies and materials for print and electronic media that will attract prospective Volunteers and Project Staff. Partners with Volunteer Administration staff team to identify marketing channels. Coordinates design and purchase of ads and monitors cost-benefit of marketing investments.
· Generates positive media attention at local, national and international levels. Seeks out opportunities to promote AMIGOS and creates a network of media contacts to raise public interest.
· Consults with and provides guidance to AMIGOS chapters on how to increase local publicity and enhance branding consistency. This includes providing press
release templates, supporting chapter websites, seeking regional advertising opportunities, and providing tailored recruiting materials to chapters.
Branding and Marketing MaterialsProduction
· Leads staff on managing content, production, inventory and archiving of all externally-facing materials, such as annual reports, newsletters, Volunteer and Project Staff recruiting materials, photographs, and other promotional materials used in the United States and Latin America. Liaises with graphic designers, printers, and media specialists, and oversees relevant contract compliance and expenditures.
· Oversees production of promotional media, including the management of contractor bid and selection process, negotiating timelines, overseeing contractor expenditures, and ensuring script and images for final product meets current marketing needs.
· Reviews content of International Office publications to ensure branding consistency and to provide editorial assistance. Coordinates graphic design and printing according to timelines and budgets, with consultation of relevant International Office staff. Ensures adherence to logo standards throughout AMIGOS.
· Coordinates translation of materials into Spanish, serving as liaison with professional translators and ensuring appropriateness of translations.
Web-based duties
· Lead staff on ensuring the website’s appeal, effectiveness, and timeliness. Liaison with external website technicians regarding graphic design, content management and technical needs. Provides technical assistance to staff and chapter leaders on website content management and arranges training sessions as needed.
· Supports AMIGOS chapters in the development and improvement of their chapter websites. This includes hosting training calls, maintaining training materials, answering chapter questions and working with the website consultant on technical chapter website improvements.
· Maintains AMIGOS profile, responds to users and regularly posts relevant content to social networking outlets including Facebook and Twitter. Develops social media strategy. Trains project staff and supports project-specific Facebook pages during the summer.
· Tracks website traffic, referring sites and website page popularity using Google Analytics.
· Lead staff on maintaining communication and collaboration through the AMIGOS Intranet (an Open Atrium intranet). Liaise with external support as needed.
· Lead staff on all mass email campaigns through Salesforce and Predictive Response. Responsible for the design and content of eNewsletter.
Other Duties
· Works with AMIGOS President & CEO to determine the communication and marketing budget and track expenditures throughout the fiscal year.
· Provides lead support for the International Board of Directors’ Marketing and Communications Task Force.
· Generates relevant progress reports to the International Board of Directors
· Supports the Development Team with mailings, communications, and engagement initiatives.
· Assists other departments with other relevant tasks as needed.
· Support upcoming 50th Anniversary Initiatives.
