This week marks our last week here in Matagalpa, Nicaragua and there are plenty of tears flowing as Volunteers start to say goodbye to each of their communities. Many of our Volunteers set up route wide talleres (workshops) to share the activities they learned at the midsummer theater workshop with a larger audience.
It was a great success where Volunteers got to work with youth counterparts to facilitate their own workshops and really put to practice what they learned. The entire staff was proud and impressed with what the Volunteers could do with a little motivation. We are busy setting up evaluations in each of the communities and have no doubt that the summer has been a success. We are ready to hear how AMIGOS can work to continually improve our programs here in Nicaragua. We will be having our final Despedida (Goodbye Party) here in Matagalpa next week and then head off to debriefing in beautiful Granada (one of the first European cities in the Americas)! We will have closing activities, activities to process through the summer, and, of course, some time to shop, eat and celebrate the summer successes. We might even have a surprise visit from our wonderful partner agency CARE! It has been a wonderful project here in Matagalpa, Nicaragua! We couldn't have done it without the help of the wonderful Volunteers, staff and all of our partners here in Nicaragua!
