"AMIGOS alumnus inaugurated as AMA President"

Dr. Ronald Davis inaugurated as 162nd President of the American Medical Association


On June 26, 2007, Dr. Ronald M. Davis was inaugurated as the 162nd President ofama-dinner the American Medical Association (AMA).  A board-certified preventive medicine physician from East Lansing, Michigan, Ron served as an AMIGOS Volunteer in Ecuador in 1973.

Emily Untermeyer, Executive Director/President, attended the inauguration in Chicago and invited Kendra Hanley to join her at the celebration dinner.  Kendra, also an AMIGOS veteran, works at the AMA and volunteers her time as President of the Chicago Urban chapter of AMIGOS.

Emily was delighted to attend such an auspicious occasion and to hear Ron's Inaugural Address that revealed his wit, close regard for his family and strong commitment to disease prevention.  A copy of his remarks is posted on the AMA website.

Emily also attended a breakfast the following day in which Ron honored former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, who has long championed effective public policies and health education regarding HIV/AIDS, tobacco use, and many other serious issues.
