Teen philanthropists will hand out more than $30,000 in donations to global organizations that help the needy Sunday.
The 19 local high school students participated in a yearlong project with the Marin Jewish Community Teen Foundation. Students created a mission statement, selected grant recipients, and managed funds as board members of a charitable foundation.
The teens provided $4,500 to Jewish World Watch to provide solar cookers to Darfur refugees, $3,500 to Amigos de las Americas for a nutrition education program in Mexico, and $5,000 to the Richmond-based Verde Partnership Garden's Leadership Project.
The grant announcement ceremony and bagel brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Mill Valley Community Center at 180 Camino Alto at Mill Valley.
