Guanajuato Project Briefing

July 1, 2008 (Click on photo for enlargement)

gto-brief-smThe Volunteers arrived on Tuesday, June 24. They were greeted by excited AMIGOS Project Staff and professional counterparts at the airport, and then they were bussed to the briefing site in our headquarter city, Valle de Santiago. A three-day briefing ensued which contained project-specific details, language practice and a special activity headed up by one of our Mexican counterparts in Valle. On Thursday morning, the Volunteers learned who their partners were, and that night they were given a huge welcome party by the local municipal government. Much dancing, food, and fun was had by all. The next morning Volunteers were shipped off to their towns and have been there for almost two days now. They, and all of our counterparts, are excited and ready to get the summer started.

AMIGOS Voices

“Ever since I returned from Panama I have been trying to get other teens to participate in AMIGOS because I want them to experience the life-changing experience I did and go on the journey of a lifetime with a group of other committed, caring teens from across the United States and Latin America.”

–Guthrie Graves-Fitzsimmons, Veteran Volunteer
