Asociación de Desarrollo Pespirense (ADEPES)

ADEPES’ vision is that the families in the communities of the Pespire municipality, supported by ADEPES, improve their quality of life, increase their earnings, conserve the environment, strengthen their capacity to participate, guarantee their food security, and make their organizations self-sufficient. ADEPES is comprised of people who have worked for Save the Children de Honduras and are respected professionals in the fields of agriculture, micro-finance, and education. Its success is due to the continual support provided by Save the Children de Honduras and the vision of its leadership, all of whom were raised and still live in the communities. The organization works directly in the communities, primarily with agricultural cooperatives, and provides education about establishing and maintaining cooperatives.

Plan Honduras

Plan International works in 45 developing countries on health, education, livelihood, housing, water and sanitation projects, and cross-cultural learning. Plan’s vision is of a world in which all children realize their full potential in societies that respect people’s rights and dignity. It works with a participatory approach. Children, their families, and their communities are involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of all of Plan’s programs. Child sponsorship is the foundation of the organization—there are about one million sponsors in 15 donor countries helping over one million children all over the world, together with their families and communities.

Plan began working in Honduras in 1977 and now works in 12 of the 18 departments of the country; in a total of 945 communities.

Save the Children de Honduras

Save the Children de Honduras (SCH) began in 1968 as the Honduran branch of the international health and development organization Save the Children USA, seeking to support communities in the planning and execution of integrated development programs. In 1986, SCH became independent of Save the Children USA and has been working in Honduras ever since. The organization’s philosophy is that to improve the life of one child, you must improve the entire community. SCH aims to improve home and community life for the child and is committed to utilizing pre-existing community resources in many of its projects.
