Dominican Republic Mid-Term Report
After a month of hard work in their communities, the Volunteers will have a chance to relax by the beach this weekend. Staying the sunny seaside town of ParaĆso in the Barahona Province, the Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet up again as a large group and discuss their progress up to this point. The Volunteers will get to play games such as route olympics and perform route skits, as well as enjoy some time at the beach. We also will have more serious activities, such as goal setting for the rest of the summer and an evaluation of their projects thus far. It will be an appreciated chance to reflect on the first half of the summer and to recharge their batteries for the busy second half that's yet to come.
On the last day of Midterm, we will have two separate youth workshops, one in San Juan and one in Azua. These workshops will include the Volunteers and two youth counterparts from each of the communities. To reinforce the importance of their role in the AMIGOS projects, the youth counterparts will be asked to share their own evaluations of the project and to set their own goals on things that can be improved in the upcoming weeks with the Volunteers. After this activity, all of the Volunteers will return to their communities with their counterparts to dive into the action-packed second half of their summer!
