Veraguas, Panamá Mid-Term Report

Volunteers took time over the July 14th weekend to assess the progress of their project, share best practices amongst themselves, and regroup for the second half of the summer at Midterm.  In addition, Volunteers had the opportunity to discuss community-based initiatives (CBIs) with their Project Supervisors and review their communities' grant applications. Volunteers also shopped around Santiago, the headquarter city, for treats and Panamanian trinkets. They had time to relax at a beach resort in neighboring Coclé Province, less than two hours east of Veraguas.

As of now, Volunteers are back in their communities, reenergized and rejuvenated for the rest of their summers. During the rest of their time here, they will be hard at work getting their CBIs started with community members and taking their educational workshops, or talleres, to the next level. The entire project is now well positioned to make the most out of their remaining time in Panamá.

AMIGOS Voices

“The youth of the world need to prepare themselves for a world without borders, and as often as we have the opportunity to intertwine another cultures’ life-experience with our own, we should take it. This is the trend of things, and experiences like AMIGOS will make that transition all the more smooth.”
