Program overview 

Volunteers will complete training in-country upon arrival to Barranquilla. Training will be followed by a  two-week academic course on Culture and Development in Northern Colombia. Course credit will be awarded through our partner university in Barranquilla. Course details will be provided by November 15th. 

Following completion of the course work Volunteers in Colombia will be asigned to a service initiative with a non-profit organization in the city of Barranquilla or Cartagena. Volunteers will also be encouraged to seek out additional community-service initiatives in their host neighborhoods and encourage local youth to participate. Accomodations will be arranged through host families.

Requirements: Applicants must have completed at least one year of college and be enrolled at a college or university. Students must also have completed at least 3 years of Spanish languge instruction OR demonstrate good, excellent or native Spanish skills, as the course will be taught fully in Spanish.
