About Project Staff

AMIGOS is committed to having youth-led community service programs in which veteran Volunteers can develop ever-increasing leadership, program management, and mentoring skills. AMIGOS believes strongly that when given the proper training young people can manage great responsibility effectively. The young men and women who advance through the levels of AMIGOS Project Staff develop excellent management and interpersonal skills that greatly enhance their college, graduate school and employment opportunities.

First Level – Project Supervisor

After completing a successful project, veteran Volunteers can apply to be Project Supervisors, the initial level of management. Supervisors coordinate with partnering agencies to prepare host communities for the Volunteers' arrival and to plan the structure for implementing community service activities. Supervisors visit Volunteers in their communities, assist in problem solving, and respond to Volunteers' emotional, health and safety needs.

Second Level – Senior Project Supervisor

Individuals who successfully completed their service as Project Supervisors can apply for the second level of management. Senior Project Supervisors actively collaborate with Associate and Project Directors in the planning and preparations for each project. During the time Volunteers are in their communities, Senior Project Supervisors will split their time between managing projects in several communities and assisting with overall program implementation.

Third Level – Associate Project Director

Individuals who excel as Senior Project Supervisors can apply for the third level of management. Associate Project Directors work alongside the Project Directors in managing and directing the project, from program design and evaluation to training the Project Staff. Associate Project Directors also manage project budgets.

Highest Level - Project Director

Project Directors are the highest level of project management. Directors travel to the assigned country several months before projects begin in order to finalize plans with partnering agencies. During the project, Directors oversee Volunteer training and overall management of the project.
