Ann Starr is the Director of Education at Greenlights for Nonprofit Success, an Austin-based nonprofit consulting and training organization, where she directs a variety of educational programs for nonprofit professionals and board members. Ann brings more than 20 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector to her work, specializing in providing guidance in the areas of board governance and fundraising. Prior to her role at Greenlights, Ann served as Director of Development for Texas Appleseed, a public interest law center addressing systemic injustice, where she launched the organization's first individual giving society and more than double grant funding. For nearly six years, she managed The St. Edward's Fund at St. Edward's University, where she raised $1 million annually and was a key member of University's successful $65 million comprehensive campaign. Ann's expertise in designing and facilitating adult education programs comes from her years as a curriculum developer, trainer, and adjunct professor for St. Edward's New College. In addition to her service on the AMIGOS International Board of Directors, Ann is the Chair of the SIMS Foundation Board of Directors, an organization that provides low-cost mental health and addiction recovery services for Austin's 8,000+ professional musicians and their family members. She holds a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and a Master of Arts in Human Services from St. Edward's University. Ann and her husband, musician Stephen Beasley, love being outside and going on adventures with their two young sons, Micah and Vaughn.
