Florencia Mattos

Florencia is from Montevideo, Uruguay. In addition to working as the Youth Ambassador Program Coordinator, Florencia currently studies sociology and journalism at la Universidad Católicadel Uruguay. In 2010, Florencia began volunteering with DESEM Jóvenes Emprendedores (Junior Achievement Uruguay) and soon afterwards she was hired as the Elementary School Programs Coordinator. When DESEM later offered Florencia the opportunity to serve as the Youth Ambassador Program Coordinator in collaboration with Amigos de las Americas and the US Department of State, she did not hesitate to accept the position! She believes the Youth Ambassadors program is a life-changing program. Florencia is excited to work on a program that allows participants to experience another culture while sharing their own culture and traditions. She is proud to work on a program that guides participants in the development of effective teamwork skills, leadership, tolerance, responsibility and self-confidence.
