As a native Houstonian, Holly was a Houston Chapter AMIGOS Volunteer during summer 2004 in Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica. After her freshman year of college in 2006, she volunteered a second time with AMIGOS in Oaxaca, México. Holly officially joined the AMIGOS staff in September 2009 (following her summer position as the On-Call Specialist) and is excited to have the opportunity to further develop her dedication to AMIGOS.
Holly graduated from Emory University in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. During her time there, Holly took a variety of courses that cultivated her interest in public health and social justice. Her prior work experience includes an internship at the CDC, peer tutoring for Emory’s Writing Center and serving as both the Department Head of Foreign Languages and Spanish teacher for Breakthrough Collaborative in Houston, TX. Additionally, Holly traveled to Mérida, México to help develop the pilot HIV/AIDS awareness workshop for the non-profit, Brazos Abiertos.
In her spare time, she enjoys practicing her Portuguese and Spanish, traveling, listening to music, watching foreign films and baking.
