Justin Nelson

Justin was an AMIGOS Volunteer in 1991 in Costa Rica, a Project Supervisor in 1992 in Ecuador and Project Director in 1994 and 1995 in Costa Rica and Mexico. He joined the International Board of Directors in 2010.

Justin attended Yale University and received his J.D. from Columbia University in 2000.

Justin is currently Adjunct Professor at Seattle University School of Law. He focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property, antitrust and appellate litigation. His clients have included Amazon.com, where he defended the company in the “shopping cart” patent infringement case; Two Way Media, who is attempting to enforce its streaming media patent against AOL; and Kentucky Speedway, who is suing Nascar for antitrust violations. He also has represented Intellectual Ventures and Ignition Partners, among others. In January 2006, he represented a group of social scientists in a Supreme Court amicus brief in the Texas Redistricting case. In March 2006, he represented a group of inventors and Intellectual Ventures in an amicus brief in the eBay v. MercExchange case. Mr. Nelson also has practiced First Amendment law on behalf of various media companies. He is licensed in the States of Texas and Washington.
