Marta joined the Latin American Programs Department in the fall of 2012 as a Regional Director. She first became involved with AMIGOS as a Boston Chapter Volunteer in Costa Rica in 2002. In 2006 she returned as a Project Supervisor in Chinandega, Nicaragua, and then in 2007 as an APD in Valle, Honduras. She then trained New York City Chapter Volunteers 2008-2009, and was a Project Director in Matagalpa and then Ecuador.
Prior to working at AMIGOS Marta served as an AmeriCorp VISTA in New York City with the New Farmer Development Program, a GrowNYC project that supports immigrants with agricultural expertise to begin their own environmentally sustainable farm businesses. She also worked with immigrant youth in Milan, Italy as part of an Italian language and immigrant integration program.
Marta has a Master of Science in Community Development and Applied Economics from the University of Vermont.
