Amigos Background
• Became a Ham Radio volunteer for Amigos in November 1964 – to support the initial communication between Guy Bevil and the Ministry of Health in Tegucigalpa, and with the head of the Civic Action Group of the Honduran Military – at the founding of the program
• Participated in the initial truck caravans in 1965, 1966 and 1967 from Houston to Honduras
• Field Staff – 1965, based in La Ceiba, Honduras (Ham Radio operator and Route Driver) – at age 15 – also active with immunization programs
• Field Staff – 1966, based in Tegucigalpa Honduras (Ham Radio operator and Route Driver) – active with immunization programs
• Field Staff – 1967, based in Mazetenango, Guatemala (Ham Radio operator and Route Leader) – active with immunization programs (worked under Bill Arnold, Country Director)
• Youth representative to the Amigos International Board in 1966 and 1967
• Recruited my father, Raymond A. Cook (also a Ham Radio operator), to the program, who became the first Chairman of Amigos de las Américas in the fall of 1965 (my mother, Florence B. Cook, was also an active volunteer, along with other founding couples)
• Joined the I/O board in 1978, after returning to Houston from college and business school
• Became Chairman of the International Board in about 1983
• Co-founder and President of Foundation for Amigos de las Américas

• Honors graduate of Princeton University (A.B. in Economics in 1971) and Harvard Business School (M.B.A. in Finance in 1974)
• 38 year career in private equity and investment banking
• President and CEO of Fieldstone Partners (www.fieldstone.com), a private equity and investment banking firm, based in Houston (founded in 1990)
• Married for 41 years, with two married children and two grandchildren
