Become a Correspondent Volunteer

Correspondent Volunteers (CVs) come from all across the Americas to participate in AMIGOS. Instead of training and being involved with a local chapter, CVs are supported by professional staff members at the International Office in Houston, TX and prepare independently for their summer experience.

To be a Correspondent Volunteer, you must be a motivated and enthusiastic individual. The CV Program requires Volunteers to hold a high level of maturity to complete the fundraising and training independently. In addition, you will participate in a three-day regional or gateway training workshop prior to traveling to Latin America that will further prepare you for serving and living in your host community.

Training Materials and a Fundraising Guide will be provided to help you get ready and raise funds towards your Participation Fee. Assistance in seeking high school or college credit is also available and encouraged.

If you would like to receive more information about AMIGOS by mail, complete our inquiry form with your contact information. For additional questions, please contact AMIGOS via email at info@amigoslink.org or by calling (800) 231-7796.

The deadline for participating in summer 2008 programs has elapsed. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering with AMIGOS in summer 2009. Project dates and the application deadline will be announced in the fall.

AMIGOS Voices

“AMIGOS is almost entirely responsible for my work ethic in the way I commit to work, the ideas I have, my world vision, my conception or what international development should be and what community building should look like.”

–Jessica Parlanti, Veteran Volunteer
