The program cost is $4,995 per volunteer.  A family payment obligation of $2,995 and a family fundraising obligation of $2,000 cover the program cost.  The program cost includes the Chapter paid training expenses in the U.S. and the Amigos International Office field participation fee, which covers international airfare, in-country room, board, transportation, medical insurance while in the field, project suppplies, and administrative costs.

The program cost does not include: domestic air fare (approximately $400) from the departure city (Madison, Chicago, or Milwaukee) to the "gateway" city (Miami or Houston); a physical exam by the volunteer's doctor, any required immunizations, passport fee, visa fee if required, frame backpack and sleeping bag, or any incidentals the volunter chooses to purchase.  A comprehensive packing list will be provided during training.

The family payment can be made in six installments; $100 non-refundable application fee due with completed application and then five installments totalling $2,895 over a period of about four months. In addition, volunteers must fund raise $2,000 through a letter writing campaign and participate in fund raising events.

Scholarships:

Amigos de las Americas seeks to make the Amigos Training and Services experience possible to a diverse array of youth.  Both the International Office and Chapter offer limited financial aid to volunteers.  Aid is available only to help defray the family fee; therefore, participation in all fundraising activities is required.  All volunteers pay at least $1,000 of the family fee.  The financial aid application form and instructions, for both International Office Aid and Chapter awards can be found in the Amigos application package.

Completed scholarship applications can be turned in with the application, or for greater privacy, they may be separated from the application and mailed to the Wisconsin Chapter Recruiting Coordinator, to be received no later than November 1.

Veteran volunteers receive a $350 scholarship from the International Office and may receive up to $1,000 from the Chapter.
